Book Fair

The Book Fair is held twice a year and is a week-long event.  Students are encouraged to visit the Book Fair and purchase books for their personal use.  Our librarian is in charge of the set up, although the PTC provides workers for the shifts during school hours and on the nights of the Chili Supper and Ice Cream Social.  All proceeds made through the Book Fair are used to purchase books for the school library.

Carnival

The Carnival is an opportunity for the whole family to have some fun!  The last few years the Carnival has been held at Paige's Crossing in Columbia City.  It's a great way to spend time with the family and support your school!

Chili Supper

The Chili Supper is usually held during the fall Book Fair.  This is not intended as a fundraiser, but an opportunity to have families come in and look at the books available for purchase.  Volunteers are needed to work one night only.  The chili is really good, so come check it out!  Another opportunity to not fix supper!

CPH Room (Coyote Parent Helper)

This is the workroom across the hall from the office.  Teachers put in requests for work to be done (copying, laminating, binding books, etc.) and volunteers are then scheduled to come in and complete the projects.  This is a perfect place to get your feet wet volunteering because you can set your own hours or work when you have a free hour or two.  The teachers are really appreciative that we offer this service to them.

Flower & Garden Show

This event starts out in the spring when the students are given the opportunity to order seeds that they can plant and grow during the summer.  All students in grades K - 4 are also given a live plant to take care of over the summer that they can submit to the Flower & Garden show in September.  All blue ribbon winners are entered into the city-wide Flower and Garden show.  Many volunteers are needed the day the plants are delivered to bag them and distribute them to the classrooms.  This is a great program provided by the city of Fort Wayne.

Holiday Shoppe

This event is held a couple weeks before the holidays to give our students the opportunity to purchase presents for their families at a fraction of the cost.  This is not intended as a fundraiser, but a service we provide our students.  Our chairpersons shop all year to get great bargains that we pass on to the students.  Many volunteers are needed to work the days of the sale and to set up and tear down.  This is a great way to lift your spirits as you help the excited kids shop on their own!

Ice Cream Social

The Ice Cream Social is usually held the first night of the spring Book Fair.  This is not intended as a fundraiser, but an opportunity to get parents into the school to look at the books available for purchase.  Volunteers are needed to work the night of the event only.

Popcorn

Popcorn is done twice a year.  It's just our way of giving the students a treat.  Volunteers come in, pop the popcorn and distribute it to the classrooms.  Each student receives a bag of popcorn for free!

School Supplies

This is a service we provide to the students where they can purchase pre-packaged school supplies by grade level.  This is not intended as a fundraiser, although the company has provided us with a discount because all the elementary schools in the district are using it.  Order forms are usually sent home around spring break.  Volunteers are need to help process orders and to distribute the boxes at registration.  This a great "one stop shopping" for school supplies!

Spirit Wear

This is a service we provide to the students, approximately twice a year, so they can purchase clothing with the Covington Elementary name and logo.  This is just a way of showing school spirit and is not intended as a fundraiser.  Volunteers are needed to distribute clothing when the orders arrive.  Catch some Covington spirit while you can!

Staff Appreciation

Once a month volunteers provide our teachers and staff with delicious luncheons.  The menu changes monthly and lots of volunteers are needed to set up, provide the food and clean up.  The committee also puts together schedules for showing year long appreciation in each individual teacher's classroom.  All participation is voluntary and this is a great way to show our teachers and staff our thanks for the job they do every day!

Student Activities

This committee provides our students with activities to promote fellowship and family fun.  We usually have two Bingo nights, several Roller skating Parties and several Movie Nights.  These are not intended fundraisers, but opportunities for families to get together and have some fun.  Many volunteers are needed to work the day of the event only.  Bring your family to a fun-filled night and enjoy yourselves!

Welcome Back Parent Social

This one-time event is an opportunity for parents to meet other parents and have any questions answered by the PTC.  Coffee and juice are provided.  Please stop by and meet other parents in your grade level and enjoy your first few hours of peace and quite since summer began!
